Today in our lovely new workshops at uni, I spent some time playing with the intarsia carriage. I think slowly, this is becoming one of my favourite techniques. It’s just so neat, no messy floats invading the back.
I worked my first piece with two wools in different colour, and then thought it’d be interesting to have the corner piece in monofilament so it was there, but not…
Monofilament is one of the most troublesome “yarns” I’ve come across. I was having to use 4 strands of monofilaments as it was so fine, and keeping these strands altogether was more difficult. At one stage it fell off the needles but I managed to solve it. I can’t stop using I though, it provides the most lovely effect, I just need to try and find it in a wider gauge!
